Quentin Libois, who performed some of his work at Concordia, is one of seven winners of the 2015 Thesis Prize from the University Grenoble Alpes.
His work done LGGE led by Ghislain Picard were conducted in close collaboration with Laurent Arnaud (LGGE) and Marie Dumont, Samuel Morin, Matthew and Eric Brown Lafaysse CNRM-GAME.
His work focused on radiative transfer of solar energy in the snowpack and its consequences on the metamorphism of snow, with the ultimate aim to better quantify the snow-albedo climate feedbacks involving snow. By combining the experimental station of Concordia Dome C and modeling with SURFEX / ISBA Crocus-Quentin reaped exceptional measures and obtained several original results published in four articles first author to date. These results allowed several fundamental advances in optics of snow and a better understanding of the processes governing the evolution of the seasonal snow surface on the Antarctic Plateau.
