Tests of the brand new SUBGLACIOR drilling probe

The goal of this IPEV project is to proceed to new tests of the SUBGLACIOR drilling probe, which has already been tested in 2016/18. Since this first try we improve a few things on the probe, and on the casing tightness technology that need to be proven to work properly.

Our goal during this first testing season is to ensure we could get through the refrozen water tightness cap, and then to proceed to fast access drilling and deal with ice chipcs.

This is supposed to be checked during a second season, increasing the complexity level of the probe, and trying to make some in situ measurements while drilling (season 2024/25) mainly some dust measurements.
