There are just under two weeks remaining to the deadline for applications for the 2017 COMNAP Antarctic Fellowship (https://www.comnap.aq/SitePages/fellowships.aspx).
The deadline for applications is 1 July 2017.
Fellowships enable early-career persons to join a project team from another country, opening up new opportunities and often creating partnerships that last for many years and over many Antarctic field seasons. There is one COMNAP Fellowship available this year for up to US$15,000.
Preparing a successful fellowship application is a skill. To help applicants develop their fellowship proposal writing skills, two mentoring webinars were held jointly by COMNAP, SCAR and APECS, one in English in 2016 and a second in Spanish in 2017. These are particularly meant for early-career people to assist them with their application writing skills. The webinars can be accessed from the COMNAP Fellowships webpage or directly from the APECS webpage at: http://apecs.is/career-resources/webinars/webinar-archive/details/10/125.html.
SCAR is also offering five Fellowships in 2017, but the eligibility criteria and application process are separate from that of COMNAP, see http://www.scar.org/fellowship/information. Please also note that CCAMLR also offers a scholarship (different criteria and deadlines apply) and details can be found here: https://www.ccamlr.org/en/science/ccamlr-scientific-scholarship-scheme.
